New releases include updates, bug and security fixes, so keep AppSignal up to date. The CLI warns you when a newer version is available. A new major version stops commands until you upgrade.

Upgrade the CLI

Upgrade with the same method you used to install the CLI.
Before a major upgrade, read the changelog. A major version can remove commands or change how you sign in. For example, 2.0.0 made sign-in OAuth-only and removed the apps orgs command. If the CLI asks you to sign in again, run appsignal-cli auth login.
Update Homebrew, then upgrade the formula:
Homebrew installs the version in the appsignal/appsignal-cli tap’s formula. The tap is updated after each release on GitHub.

Check the version

Confirm the CLI runs the new version:
Shell
Run appsignal-cli about for an overview of your setup, including its version, endpoint, default organization, and authentication status.

Update the agent skill

If you installed the AppSignal agent skill, refresh it after you upgrade. The skill has its own version, separate from the CLI’s. To update it for every agent:
Shell
Run appsignal-cli skill status to check that each install shows up_to_date.
