[ROM](https://rom-rb.org/) is a persistence and mapping toolkit for Ruby. AppSignal instruments ROM queries automatically when the `dry-monitor` gem is detected on start. No manual setup is required.

ROM reports its queries through [Dry::Monitor notifications](/ruby/instrumentation/instrumentation#drymonitornotifications), which AppSignal reads.

## Performance monitoring

Queries made through ROM appear in the event timeline of your application's performance actions, showing the query that was executed.

## Event names

ROM queries are reported as `query.rom` events. Earlier versions reported them under a different event name.
