## Installatie en gebruik

Om de Apollo Gateway-instrumentatie te gebruiken, moet u de GraphQL-instrumentatie uitschakelen in de service die als gateway fungeert. Dit komt doordat de gateway zijn eigen spans verzendt met behulp van de `@apollo/gateway` OpenTelemetry-instrumentatie voor de queries die het naar de services in de supergraph doorverwijst.

Dit kunt u doen met de optie `disableInstrumentations` in de `appsignal`-configuratie.

## Functies

De Apollo Gateway-instrumentatie verstuurt root-spans naar AppSignal op basis van de queries die het ontvangt en doorstuurt naar de subgraphs.

U kunt deze gegevens inspecteren in de event timeline van prestatieproblemen:

Als uw federated services ook met AppSignal zijn geïnstrumenteerd, krijgt u ook de gebruikelijke GraphQL-spans voor deze services.
